Serve to the Left, Take From the Right
Karen Barbour Solo Show
Saturday, June 26, 2010, 7pm- 9pm

Tinlark Gallery proudly presents Serve From the Left, Take From the Right, an enchanting collection of imagined social gatherings painted by acclaimed artist, Karen Barbour.
The guests at a table conceived by Barbour wear exaggerated social
signifiers and eccentric baubles, and one can only imagine the exotic
tales that spill forth as the feast is consumed. These diners are the
embodiment of the fables of Barbour’s youth, her dream imagery, and her
waking inspirations.

The work of Karen Barbour has been shown at Jack Hanley Gallery in San
Francisco and galleries in New York, Rome, Los Angeles, Milan, Venice,
Tokyo and elsewhere. She has an MFA from the San Francisco Art
Institute and lives in Inverness, California.

In addition to her fine art, Barbour is also an accomplished writer and illustrator of over twenty children’s books.

This is Barbour’s first solo show at Tinlark Gallery.
